Veryboringhomework is my playground for building with AI. I design and ship pixel-art arcade games from scratch, treating each one as a design exercise, a code experiment, and a reason to keep pushing what AI collaboration actually looks like in practice.

The games

Every game is built from scratch: canvas-rendered, pixel-art styled, no frameworks, no dependencies. Snake Classic layers in obstacles as you progress. Brick Breaker adds purchasable upgrades. Block Stack introduced physics. Startype Defense blends typing with space combat, pulling from word libraries stored in a database. Each one is a complete design exercise with its own intro screen, gameplay loop, and high score system.

The platform

The landing page is intentionally simple: a game gallery with live high scores for each title. Small easter eggs are scattered throughout. High scores are stored in a database, something I was completely new to before this project. Players enter their scores after each game, and a running leaderboard keeps kids coming back.

The design system

I built a full style guide for the brand: dark navy backgrounds, pixel-art visual language, Press Start 2P and Karla typefaces, and a yellow/pink/cyan accent palette. The system covers everything from typography and color to component patterns and tone of voice, built to keep things consistent as the game library grows.

Building something for kids, classrooms, or education? Let's talk.
