A game platform for classrooms, game jams, and educational play
Very Boring Homework is a growing platform for free browser-based games built for elementary through middle school classrooms. We design and ship every game from scratch alongside AI, and the platform doubles as a home for game jams where winning entries get hosted on the site. Every game is classroom-safe: no accounts, no ads, no downloads.
We built a full style guide for the brand: dark navy backgrounds, pixel-art visual language, Press Start 2P and Karla typefaces, and a yellow/pink/cyan accent palette. The system covers everything from typography and color to component patterns and tone of voice, built to keep things consistent as the game library and contributor base grow.
The platform hosts game jams for kids and classrooms, with prizes for winners and winning games published directly on the site. It gives young builders a real audience and a real deadline, and it keeps the game library growing with fresh content we didn't have to build ourselves.
We're building a suite of educational games that teachers can customize for their classrooms. The games cover elementary through middle school and are designed to be replayable, engaging, and safe for school networks. No accounts, no ads, no downloads. Teachers get tools that fit into their day without friction, and students get games worth coming back to.
We record high scores across every game and surface leaderboards at multiple levels. In the educational space, teachers and administrators can see who's performing best in a school, across a district, or even statewide. Students are kept anonymous throughout, so the competition stays fun without putting anyone on the spot.
